COCONUT PLANTERS are an Italian melodic hardcore punk band formed in 2018, born from the reunion of old friends raised on the ’90s sound of Fat Wreck Chords and Epitaph Records — “a band capable of delivering a handful of coherent, melodic and credible tracks in a short time,” as they’ve been described.
Their sound is driven by a tight and powerful rhythm section, laying the groundwork for catchy vocal melodies and sharp, expressive guitar leads. Steering clear of typical punk rock clichés, Matteo’s lyrics focus on storytelling rather than the usual “I want this or that” themes.
Their self-titled debut EP was released in 2020 via Flamingo Records (Genoa), with all 350 physical copies selling out despite the COVID-19 pandemic halting live promotion. In December 2021, they followed up with their first full-length album, Upset Hopes, released on vinyl and CD, written during lockdown. Over the past two years, the band has taken the record on the road across Italy and Europe, making up for lost time.
On 16 July 2022, they performed at the Punk Rock Raduno 5. Their latest single was released on 25 October 2023, followed in April 2024 by a limited-edition live cassette recorded at the same festival. In 2024, they also played at the Giardini Luzzati Archaeological Area, opening for Punkreas on their Electric Deja-Vu Reloaded Tour.
In 2025, the band evolved further with the addition of Thomas as full-time lead vocalist, allowing each member to fully focus on their role and elevate the overall sound. With this renewed line-up, they performed at Festival delle Periferie (Genoa), Mad One Spring Break (Sabbioneta), and joined Teresa Banks for a mini tour in Finland.
COCONUT PLANTERS deliver a high-energy live show featuring only original material — no covers. Their upcoming album, Unpopular Opinion, is on its way, with the first singles already rolling out on all major streaming platforms.
